Harry Harrison and John Wyndham first showed me the stars. James Herbert and Stephen King showed me horror. Tolkien and C.J.Cherryh filled my mind with fantastic beasts. Opening a book and travelling to magical lands, for me, there is no greater pleasure.
I have travelled the road of a self-published author. It's long and bumpy, steep, and full of potholes.
I stopped for a rest near the end of my third journey into novel writing, at the Publishing Training Centre to seek aid. The custodian there directed me to the magical land of proofreading and editing, and to the master wordsmiths, brethren of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, where I now reside. From there I watch other scribes toil on that road, and lend a helping hand, where I can, for a few gold pieces.
